Wow. It’s been a while… And we have much to bare witness about! In the month of August, Eyewitness had the amazing opportunity to join forces with Abundant Life (A youth ministry of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Dundee) on a nation-wide evangelism project…with a twist! You see this wasn’t going to be just any ordinary outreach…During the course of one month Abundant Life was planning to cover no less than 26 towns (en route from Musina to Cape Town)…That’s more than 3000km! But that’s not the best part. This entire distance would be covered with bicycles! Yup, that’s pretty much the reaction that they received from most people- what? Are you crazy? Lol. But no, these guys haven’t misplaced their sanity… they’re just a group of ordinary young people (just like you and me) who love and serve an EXTRA-ORDINARY God. And more than that- they’re SERIOUS about the mission we’ve been given: To reach the world for Christ; one person at a time. Thus, on the first of August, we embarked upon our epic journey into the unknown… and what an awesome experience it was! During the day, the team cycled between 150-180km to our destination, after which we’d get ready to give a program at the various schools/churches during the evenings. Abundant Life performed a series of short skits with powerful thought-provoking messages, and during the program Eyewitness also had the opportunity to minister in song… Sometimes there were lots of people, but most of the time our audiences were but a small handful. Something that God really taught me on this trip is that it’s not quantity that matters- it’s quality. One-on-one is very effective, and means a lot more to people as opposed to just someone preaching or singing on a stage. It was awesome just to spend time with the people themselves and show that we care. At the end of the month, when it was completed, I was sad that the trip was over, during the expedition I experienced something of the power of unity that I won’t easily forget. When God’s people (no matter how young or old) stand together for a common goal and purpose, the possibilities are endless…literally! To be continued... Eyewitness |
